More Flowers from the Elements of Nature Class

Here are more flowers from the Kit and Clowder class Elements of Nature.  Throughout the class I am doing both Copic and colored pencil.  For this set of flowers, I am used Polychromos colored pencils.  In the pictures below, the Copic version is on the right, and the colored pencil version on the left. (I should probably re-do the Copic version of the Tulips - since I had a Copic "explosion" of green ink!)

GIna K Stellar Snowflake

I had been seeing cards like this on the Gina K Facebook page and Instagram.  I really liked them, so I got the stencil and glitter gel and made these cards:

I used the following for these cards:
  • Gina K - Stellar Snowflake Stencil
  • Gina K - Glitz Glitter Gel - Brilliant Blue and Red Velvet
  • Gina K - Deck the Halls Stamp Set
  • A sentiment stamp from an unknown manufacturer (Seasons Greetings)
To make the card, I placed the stencil on a piece of white card stock, and added the glitter gel.  Once it was dry, the sentiments were added and the panels matted and added to a card base to complete the cards.

Snowman Christmas Card

When I made Christmas cards last year, I had a lot of extra parts.  I decided to use some of them this year.  This is one of the cards made with the leftovers (the snowman and the background).  Making this card was easy, since the hardest parts were done last year!

I used the following to make the card:

  • Tim Holtz - Holiday Knits Stamp
  • Distress Oxide Ink - Lucky Clover and Cracked Pistachio
  • Zing - Clear Embossing Power
  • Versmark
  • Stampendous - Detail White Embossing Powder
  • Copic Markers
  • Gina K - Snowone Like You Stamp Set
  • Lawn Fawn - Merry Messages Stamp Set
To make the card,  I stamped the background image with Versamark, added the clear embossing powder and heat set it.  The two green Distress Oxide inks were then added with the lighter color at the top of the panel, blending to the darker color.  The snowman was stamped and colored with various Copic markers, and then cut out with a circle die.  The background panel and snowman were both matted with green card stock.  The sentiment was stamped with Versmark, white embossing added and heat set.  The strip was cut to size and added to the panel along with the snowman to complete the card.

Snowflake Card (Gina K)

Here is a card that I made based on one seen on the Gina K Facebook page.

I used the following for the card:
  • Gina K - Complements of the Season Stamp Set
  • Gina K - Let it Snow Stamp Set
  • Gina K - Water Droplets Stencil
To make the card, I placed the stencil on a piece of white card stock.  Then using a light blue ink, I lightly brushed the ink through the stencil fading it near the edges.  I then randomly stamped the snowflakes using a gray ink.  The sentiment was then added using a black ink.  The panel was matted and added to the card base to complete the card.

A foiled Christmas Card (Gina K)

I found some left over pieces of foiled card stock from the cards I made last year.  So I took two of them and made this card:

I used the following for the card:

  • Gina K - Foil Mates - Holiday Cheer, Ornament Holiday
  • Gina K - Fancy Foil - Radiant Red
  • Sizzix - Embossing Folder (Ornaments)
To make the card, I embossed the card base with the Sizzix Embossing Folder.  The foiled pieces were added to complete the card.

Christmas Wreath (Gina K)

The Gina K Wreath Builder makes it so easy to make different and unique wreaths every time it is used!  I played around a bit and made a wreath I really liked.  I then used that as a template to make multiple wreaths for multiple cards.  Here is the card that I made:

For the card, I used:
  • Gina K - Wreath Builder templates
  • Gina K - Small and Large Oval Dies
  • Gina K - Mini Wreath Builder Stamp Set
  • Gina K - Holiday Wreath Builder Stamp Set
  • Gina K Ink - Christmas Pine, Fresh Asparagus, Cherry Red, Black Amalgam
  • Hero Arts Ink - Cocoa
  • Penny Black - Yuletide Wishes Stamp set
To make the card, I stamped the wreath (using the 3.75" template) images using a variety of inks.  Once the wreath was complete, it was cut in half.  Each half was then mounted to the top and bottom of a piece of red card stock measuring 4 x 5.25.  The band was created using a strip of white card stock matted on a piece of red card stock, and added between the two sides of the wreath.  The ovals were cut from red and white card stock, and added in the center of the wreath.  The sentiment was added to the white oval.  The entire piece was then added to a card base to complete the card.

Glittered Poinsettia

Several years ago, I got both the Poinsettia die and matching embossing folder.  I used it once.  I brought it out again this year to make these cards:

I used the following for the cards:

  • Tim Holtz - Tattered Poinsettia Die and Embossing Folder
  • Sookwang Double Sided tape
  • Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter - Emerald Green, Champagne
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Bright Cranberry Microfine Glitter
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Stand-up Helpers dies
  • Star Form Peel-off stickers - Gold/Silver Lines (#7010), Circles (#7018)
  • Mark Richards Peel-off stickers - Seasons Greetings sentiments

To make the Poinsettia, I added the Sookwang tape to white card stock, and then using the die cut out the layers of the Poinsettia.  The layers were then embossed, using the matching embossing folder.  I removed the protective sheet from the tape, added the glitter and burnished it.  The center of the Poinsettia needed a bit more definition, so some peel-off gold circles were added.  The Poinsettia was assembled using pop-dots between the layers.

To make the card base, I used a top fold A2 sized card (4.25 x 5.5).  I added an additional score line at 2.75" (top side of the card).  On the other side (bottom side of the card) at 2.75 inches from the fold, the stand up feature was added in the center of the card.

The Poinsettia was added a piece of patterned paper which was then matted with card stock in the same color as the card base.  Peel-off stickers were added to the panel which was then added to the bottom portion of the top side of the card.

Below the stand up helper, a piece of the patterned paper (1.75") was added.  Peel-off stickers were added to the top and bottom, and the sentiment added in the middle.  The excess portion of the bottom side of the card was removed.
