Foiled Birthday Card (Gina K)

When a quick, masculine card is needed and you are out of ideas, turn to foiling!  Here is the card I made for my nephew. I just wish I had made a few more while I had the supplies out!  These cards are easy to make, foil the images and assemble.  The results are spectacular!

I used the following for the card:

  • Gina K Fancy Foil - Grass Green
  • Gina K Foil-mates - Birthday Essentials, Stars & Stripes
  • Gina K - Large and Small Rectangle Dies
  • Gina K - Grass Green, and Black Paper

A foiled Christmas Card (Gina K)

I found some left over pieces of foiled card stock from the cards I made last year.  So I took two of them and made this card:

I used the following for the card:

  • Gina K - Foil Mates - Holiday Cheer, Ornament Holiday
  • Gina K - Fancy Foil - Radiant Red
  • Sizzix - Embossing Folder (Ornaments)
To make the card, I embossed the card base with the Sizzix Embossing Folder.  The foiled pieces were added to complete the card.

A Pumpkin Halloween Card

I had a left over piece of foil, and it inspired this card:

I used the following for the card:

  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Pumpkin Die
  • Martha Stewart - Happy Halloween Stamp Set
  • Heidi Swapp Gold Minc Foil
  • Gina K Designs - Foilmates - Leaves
  • Deco Foil Toner Sheets
To make the card, I first cut the pumpkins, layers and assembled them.  The left over foil was added to a toner sheet and run through my Minc Machine.  The pumpkins were added to the foiled panel.  The sentiment was stamped on a strip of orange paper and added to the foiled panel.  The entire panel matted with black card stock and added to an orange card base to complete the card.

Fall Leaves Card

A while back I purchased the Gina K Leaves Foil-Mates from Gina K.  I had plans at the time to use it, but somehow didn't get around to it until now.  Its hard to photograph foil, but you can see a bit of it in the card below.

I used the following for the card:
  • Gina K - Foil-Mates (Leaves)
  • Tim Holtz - Skeleton Leaves
  • Distress Oxide Ink - Carved Pumpkin, Mowed Lawn, Dried Marigold, Barn Door, Fossilized Amber
  • Heidi Swapp Minc Foil - Gold
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
To make the card, I cut the Foil-Mate to 3.75 x 5.  To this I added the gold foil .  Using Life Saving Brushes I added and blended the Distress Oxide Inks.  The panel was matted with green card stock and added to the card base.  I then cut the leaves from brown card stock and added them to the card.  The sentiment was stamped in Versmark, gold embossing powder added ad heat set.  This was then added to the card.

Foiled Christmas Cards

Last year I picked up all of the supplies to make these cards, I just didn't get to it until this year!  These cards were very quick to make.

I used the following to make the cards:

  • Gina K Foil Mates and Fancy Foil
  • Heidi Swapp Minc Foil and Minc Paper
  • Sookwang double sided tape
To make the cards, I ran the different papers through my Minc using various foils.  The paper was then cut to size and added to a card base. The Gina K Foil Mate sentiments were foiled and then cut using circle and oval dies, and added to the cards.

I used the left over foil for cards as well!  To do this, I added a piece of Sookwang tape to white card stock, and then carefully added the foil.  I was able to do this with both the backgrounds and sentiments!  These were then added to card bases.  I think that in some cases, I liked these better.

Happy Birthday with Altenew and Gina K

Here is a card I made after watching a Jennifer McGuire video (see it here).

To make the card, I used the following:

  • Gina K Foilmates - Birthday
  • Gina K Fancy Foil - Wild Lilac
  • Hero Arts - Infinity Dies Nested Ovals
  • Altenew - Peony Bouquet Stamp Set
  • Altenew Ink - Soft Lilac, Lavender Fields, Deep Iris, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glade, Evergreen
To make the card, I stamped all layers of the flower and leaves in the lower right corner.  The remainder of the card was stamped using only one of the flower layers in the lightest purple ink.  The leaves were also added in the background using the lightest green ink.  A Foilmates Birthday sentiment was foiled using Wild Lilac foil.  This was then cut with one of the oval dies.  The next largest oval was cut using black paper.  The foiled image was added to the black oval and the entire piece added to the card.

Art Impressions Foiled Christmas Card

I thought these Art Impressions snowmen were so cute! I thought that they looked great on a panel that was foiled.

To make the card, I used the following:

Art Impressions Holly Jolly Set

  • Zig Clean Color Brushes
  • Versafine Black Onyx Ink
  • Deco Foil - Lime
  • Hero Arts - Infinity Nested Frame Cuts - Oval
  • Gina K - Foil-Mates Holly Jolly
  • Gina K - Foil-Mates Large Snowflakes
  • Gina K - Fancy Foils Silver Sequins
To make the card, I used a 4 x 5.25 piece of the Large Snowflakes Foil-Mates.  I then added the Silver Sequins foil to the panel.  I cut the sentiment from the Holly Jolly Foil-mates with a Hero Arts oval die, and then added the Lime Green foil.  This was added to the snowflake panel.  The snowmen were stamped with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and then colored with various Zig Clean Color brushes. They were then fussy cut and added to the snowflake panel.  The panel was added to a green card base to complete the card.

Foil left overs made into cards

After having created some great foiled cards, I had left over pieces.  What do do?  Make some cards. Here are the cards:

Card #1:

Card #2:

For the first card, I had some left over Sweet Mango Foil, from foiling a piece of Gina K Elegant Damask paper.  I added the foil to a piece of toner paper.  Once I looked at it I realized it looked very "Halloweeny", so a Halloween card was made.  I used Lawn Fawn Spooktacular stamps and stamped the pumpkin using Sweet Mango ink, and the hat with Memento Black Ink.  Both were colored with Copic markers.  I then cut the image with a Spellbinders Classic Oval die and sponged over it with more Sweet Mango ink.  This was then matted with black.  I colored a bit of ribbon with the ink as well.  The ribbon was added to the foiled piece, then the pumpkin image added to complete the card.

For the second card, I again used toner paper, and foiled with a left over piece of Wild Lilac foil.  With this card, it needed a lighter background, so I then added Heidi Swapp silver foil.  I used one of the Happy Birthday Gina K Foil Mates sentiments.  This was cut using a Simon Says Stamp Square Stitched dies, and foiled with Wild Lilac foil.  It was matted with black paper.  Ribbon and a bow were added to the main foiled piece, and the sentiment added to complete the card.

Birthday Cards with Gina K. Foil-mates

I love the look of foil!  The foil-mates designs from Gina K. are beautiful.  I decided to get coordinating foil, paper and ink, along with some foil-mates, and just play.  The paper is wonderful and I will be definitely be ordering more!  I made 2 cards, and several backgrounds, which I will use on future cards.  The only problem with foil, is that its just so difficult to photograph!

Here are the cards I made:

To make the cards, I used the following:

  • Gina K - Wild Lilac Paper, Foil
  • Gina K - Sweet Mango Paper Foil and Ink
  • Gina K - Foil-mates Elegant Damask, Birthday Essentials
  • Simon Says Stamp - Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Squares
Making the cards was very easy!  I cut the Elegant Damask paper in half,  Each side was foiled.  I cut the sentiments with the Simon Says Stamp Stitctched dies.  These were then foiled.  The background and the sentiment were then matted with black paper.  For the Sweet Mango card, I used the matching ink and colored a white ribbon.  The ribbon was added to the background and then added to the card base.  For the Wild Lilac card, I just used white ribbon, which was added to the background and then added to the card base.  For both cards the sentiments were added with pop dots to provide a bit of dimension to the card.
