Happy 21st Birthday!

So one of the grandkids is turning 21 and planning on having their birthday dinner at a brewery.  I think this is an appropriate card for the occasion. This card was fairly simple to put together.  The main image was a print and cut from Cricut Design space.  The sentiment is one from Time Holtz Crazy Talk stamp set.

A Cricut card for a 2 year old.

I kept this card simple - its for a 2 year old!  I made sure the papers I used were colorful to grab attention.  All images and text are from Cricut Design Space.

My first layered vinyl project

A while back I purchased several baseball cap blanks from Cricut.  There was a great sale, and since I wear these when travelling, it was a great purchase.  I then needed to add something, and while searching through Cricut Design Space, I found the perfect image to add to the cap.  It was an opportunity to try my hand at layering vinyl since there where two colors.  I think it came out pretty good for a first try!

A Cricut Mothers Day card

Here is a card I made using a design from Cricut Access.

The card was easy to make!  The rose and the sentiment were both cut from Cricut Access.  They were then backed with peach foiled cardstock.  The sentiment was added to the rose image and the entire piece added to the card base to complete the card.

Teddy Bear Birthday Card

Here is a card I made for a one year old boy!  For this card I made use of my Cricut and the designs available in Cricut Design Space.  I used the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug Embossing folder for the background.

60 Candles Birthday Card

This 60th Birthday card looks plain on the front, but when its opened there are 60 candles on the inside!  I designed this card using my Cricut and images available in Design Space.

The following was used to make the card:

  • Cricut Self-designed card with candle shadow
  • Mama Elephant - Make a Wish Stamp Set
  • CTMH - Curlicue Alphabet Stamp Set
  • MFT - Old Friends Stamp Set
  • Gina K Designs - Black Onyx Ink, various pale shades
To make the card, the card was designed in Cricut Design Space and all pieces were cut.  The card was assembled making sure to vary the candle designs.  On the outside of the card, "60" was stamped all over in varying pale shades of ink.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was then stamped.  A sentiment was added to the inside form the Old Friends stamp set to complete the card.

Golfers Birthday Card

Here is a birthday card perfect for a golfer:

I used the following for the card:

  • A Cricut image
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 6
  • Gina K - Powder Blue Ink
  • Simon Says Stamp - Clouds for Days stencil
To make the card I chose the image using Cricut Design Space.  I merged the text into the image and cut it out.  The clouds were lightly stenciled directly on the card base.  The grass was cut using ML 6 and added to the bottom of the card.  The golfer was then added to complete the card.

A Cricut Graduation Card

Its graduation time again this year.  Our granddaughter is getting her Master's Degree and of course a card is needed for the occasion! This card came together quickly by using my Cricut and Gina K Designs Master Layouts.

I used the following for the card:
  • Gina K Designs - Master Layouts 1
  • Gina K Designs - Faded Brick Ink
  • Wendy Vecchi - Basically Bricks Stencil
  • Cricut Design Space
To make the card, I used a silhouette design from Cricut Design Space.  I added the text with an offset and merged it with the silhouette.  The image was cut using my Cricut.  The background was created with the brick stencil and Faded Brick ink using blender brushes.  The background image was cut using Master Layouts 1, along with the associated black mat.  The background image was added to the mat and the entire piece added to the card base.  The Crucit image was then added to complete the card.

Cricut Design Space designed card

I've finally used Cricut Design Space to design a complete card! It wasn't all that hard, and I'll probably be creating more in the future.  My first card was one for my husband.  I was able to use scraps of paper for the hearts and the sentiment banner.

Card for my new great-nephew

My nephew has had his first child!  Of course a card is in order.  Cricut Design Space has some great images that can be used for a baby card.  I also have had some velvet sheets that I haven't used (don't remember why I got them).  I used them for this card, and it added such great fuzzy like texture.

Halloween Manor

I hadn't used my Cricut recently, and when I saw the 3D Manor houses on Cricut Design Space I knew I needed to make one.  There is one for Valentines Day, Christmas and Halloween.  I decided to make the Halloween one! I added some flickering led lights for additional "spookiness".

Cricut Graduation Card

I needed another graduation card, and found a Cricut "cutaway" image that I could use.  I love the look of this card:

For this card, I used a silver pen for the print portion of the card.  The image was then backed with holographic paper, and matted in black.  This was then added to the card base to complete the card.

Cricut Birthday card

Cricut now has "cutaway" cards.  These images have both a print and cut portion.  I used one of the predesigned images for this card:

I used a silver pen for the print portion, and the backed the card with a piece of holographic paper.  This was then matted in black and added to a white card base.

Cricut Anniversary Cards

I needed a few Anniversary cards, so I decided to get out my Cricut to make some!

The first card is based on a card made by Natasha Foote (see the video here).  I loved the layout she used.  Using my Cricut, I was able to create the Heart and Banner.  I used the text feature to create the sentiment.  The heart was cut 4 times and glued together for additional height.  The strips were cut from various paper. I added a few dew drops (from Honey Bee) to complete the card.

For the next card, I cut the heart (both layers) from my Cricut.  I glued them together and added them to the card base.  The sentiment is from one of my favorite stamps sets from Picket Fence Studios, "Words to Say Happy Anniversary".

Cricut, Vinyl and Ornaments

So, when you have a Cricut, some vinyl, and its near the holidays, you need to make ornaments!  Here are the ones I made this year:

I used the following:

  • 3 inch acrylic discs for keychains
  • Mod Podge
  • Glitter
  • Vinyl (white and black)
  • Ribbon
To make the ornaments the vinyl was cut using various images from Cricut Design Space.  Mod Podge was added to one side of the ornaments and glitter added on top.  After it was dry, I repeated it so that there was a good thick coverage of glitter.   Once dry the vinyl images were added to the other side and ribbons added to complete the ornaments!

Cricut Christmas Card

One of the options I now have using Cricut Design Space is to just draw the image.  So I tried it and here is the result:

I think that I will be making several cards this year using this method!  Its quick especially when you are short on time!

Iron On Vinyl

The Cricut Explore came with a sheet on iron on vinyl, as well as some removable vinyl.  I had never used either, so I cut a few images with the removable vinyl, added them to my Cricut and craft cabinets.  I had extra aprons so I used them with the iron on vinyl.  The included vinyl was black and the apron was dark blue which made the vinyl on the finished piece hard to see, but for a first try, I thought it came out OK.

I decided that I wanted to try more of the iron on vinyl, so I bought some in white, and made these two designs:

Using vinyl and iron on vinyl is fun, and I can see using it to make Christmas gifts.  Perhaps personalized aprons, ornaments, the options are endless!

Cricut Halloween Card

One thing that I like about Design Space is Cricut Access.  With Cricut Access I now have access to so many images (200,000+) and fonts (500+)!  It's almost overwhelming.  This card was one of the Halloween images that I now can can access.  The image was cut from black cardstock and orange metallic cardstock was added behind it.  Simple.

More Circut Birthday and Anniversary cards

I tried several more cards that were available in Cricut Design Space.  Design Space isn't all that hard, and there are a lot of options that I still need to try.  Design Space is so much better than just using the cartridges, there are just so many more options in cutting the images.  I'm glad I finally upgraded my machine!

So I got a new Cricut machine ....

I needed to get a new Cricut machine.  The size dial on my very old one, the Cricut Expression was no longer working .  I normally ise my Cricut mainly for scrapbooking, and occasionally card making.  Since I needed to try out Design Space, I made this card:

And this card uses the remaining pieces which I carefully put into place.  (I don't think I'll do this again, not an enjoyable process for me!)
