Using Waste Foil

I recently purchased the Lush Leaves  Stencil Mates from Gina K Designs.  i foiled the lush leaves and just fell in love with the waste foil!  I knew I needed to make a card with it.

I used the following to make the card:

  • Therm O Web - Deco Foil Emerald Watercolor Toner Foil
  • Glitter Ritz - Cool Highlight Micro fine glitter
  • Gina K Designs - Master Layouts 1
  • Gina K Designs - Black Onyx Ink
  • Gina K Designs - Enjoyable Greetings
  • Sookwang Double Sided Tape
To make the card, I added the Sookwang tape to a piece of  white card stock.  Once the tape was exposed, I carefully added the waste foil.  The foil backer sheet was removed.  Since the leaf outlines were still exposed tape, I covered them with micro fine glitter.  This piece was then cut with ML 1, along with a gold mat.  These were then added to a green card base.  The center oval, and mat were also cut with ML 1 and attached to the card.  The sentiment was then stamped to complete the card.

Glittery Birthday Balloons

This card was fun to put together!  Its based on a technique seen on one of Jennifer McGuire's videos - Sparkled Glass Technique.  Luckily, I have so much glitter that I was able to create the glitter background as well.

For the card I used:

  • Heat resistant acetate
  • Sugar Pea Designs - Birthday Balloons
  • Altenew - Birthday Greetings
  • Sookwang Double Sided tape
  • Glitter Ritz - Silver
  • Copic Markers - Red, Green, Blue
  • Gina K Ink - Blue Denim, Lucky Clover, Red Velvet
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous - Detail White Embossing Powder
  • Rectangle dies
To make the card, I cut a piece of acetate to 4.25x5.5.  The balloons were stamped on the acetate with Versamark, embossing powder added and heat set.  On the back side of the embossed acetate, the balloons were colored with Copic markers. The acetate was added to a white frame cut with rectangle dies.  I created the silver glitter background by adding Sookwang tape to a piece of white card stock. The liner sheet was removed, glitter added to the tape and burnished in.  The glitter piece was trimmed to the same size as the frame.  Using foam tape, the acetate piece was attached to the glitter piece, and then the entire piece added to the card base.  The sentiment was stamped using similar colors of ink to the Copic markers, trimmed to size and added to the acetate to complete the card.

A 50th Birthday Card

Another family member is turning 50, so a special card was needed!  Since I like foil and glitter, I decided to mix the two, using foil papers and glitter.

To make this card, I used the following:

  • Cuttlebug Happy Birthday Embossing Folder
  • Cricut Stretch Your Imagination
  • Sizzix Sizzlets (Numbers)
  • Tim Holtz Kraft Core - Metallic Collection (Gold, Silver), Metallic Jewels (Black)
  • Sookwang Double Sided Tape
  • Glitter Ritz Micro-fine Glitter - Pink, Sea Green, Silver, Royal Blue, Poppy Orange, Lilac

To make the card, I embossed the Black Metallic card stock with the Happy Birthday Embossing Folder.  This was then added to the Silver Metallic panel.  Sookwang tape was added to a piece of white card stock.  This was then used to cut the balloons using the image from Stretch Your Imagination.  Two sizes were cut.  (Yep, I still have a Cricut Expression, and I use the cartridges).  The protective layer was removed from the tape, the glitter added and burnished in.  The balloons were added to the black embossed panel.  Using the Gold Metallic paper, the 50's were cut using the Sizzlets.  These were added around the balloons.  The entire panel was added to a card base to complete the card.

BIrthday card with MFT Diagonal Quit Square Coverup

This card is similar to one I made a few years ago (check it out here).

For this card, I used:
Soookwang Double Sided tape
MFT Diagonal Quilt Square Coverup
Glitter Ritz Royal Blue, Silver, Sea Green
Elizabeth Craft Designs White Micro Fine Glitter
CTMH Joyful Birthday Occasions
Lawn Fawndamentals - Freshly Cut Grass

TO make the card, I added the Sookwang tape to a piece of white card stock.  Using the die, I then ran the die and the tape covered paper through my Cuttlebug.  In my case, I know that this will cut through the tape, but not through the paper completely, which is what I wanted.  I then carefully removed sections of the tape to expose the sticky and add the glitter.  After each color, I made sure I burnished the glitter in before exposing the next sections and adding the glitter.  The completed image was added to the card base.  I carefully scored two lines below the image and at the bottom of the card.  Between these lines, I stamped the sentiment to complete the card.

Glittery Mothers Day Card

The picture doesn't show how glittery this card actually is!  This card uses an image stamped using the essential glue pad, and glitter.  Its a technique I've tried before, but this is the first time I got it to work.  I think in the past I wasn't patient enough, and didn't let the glue get to the tacky point.

For this card I used the following:

  • Greenhouse Society Rose Stamp
  • Glitter Ritz - Java Bean, Sea Green, Pink
  • Essential Glue Pad
  • Close To My Heart - Just to Say Stamp Set
  • Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles

To make the card, I stamped the image using the Essential Glue Pad.  I waited until the glue was tacky, and then added the glitter to the image, using Java Bean for the stem, Sea Green on the leaves and Pink for the rose.  The image was cut with the Stitched Rectangle die, and ribbon was added.  This was then added to the card base and the sentiment added to complete the card.

75th Birthday Card

Here is is a card made for a milestone birthday (75).  It was a fairly simple card to make, using glitter and Shimmer Sheets.  Here is the card:

I used the following to make the card:

  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Shimmer Sheets -
  • Stazon Black Ink
  • Cricut - Happy BIrthday Embossing Folder
  • Glitter Ritz - Silver Glitter
  • Cricut - Plantin Cartridge
  • Sookwang Double Sided tape

To make the card, I embossed the Shimmer Sheet with the embossing folder.  The Stazon ink was then lightly rubbed over the embossed image.  Sookwang tape was then added to white card stock. This was then used when cutting the numbers out using the Cricut Plantin Cartridge.  The release sheet for the numbers were then removed, and the silver glitter added and burnished.  The numbers were then added to the embossed Shimmer sheet. Sookwang tape was added to the entire front of a card base.  Silver glitter was added to the edges only.  The embossed Shimmer Sheet was added to the card base to complete the card.

More glitter and lace cards

Recently my granddaughter was visiting.  She mentioned that she was not that creative (but she is, she's a dancer) and didn't think she could make a card.  So I thought of the technique I used recently to make a card with glitter.  Its a easy technique,  I made a card with her, showing each of the steps. I Here are the cards we made:

My card:

Granddaughters card (I really like how she offset the square and the text):

We used the following to make the cards:
My card:
  • Glitter Ritz - Merlot and Silver
  • Stampendous Detail Silver Embossing Powder
  • Spellbinders Circle Dies
  • Lace
  • Sookwang Tape
  • Words for Sayings stamp set

Granddaughters card:
  • Glitter Ritz - Java Bean
  • The Stamp Doctor - Copper Glitter
  • Stampendous Rose Gold Embossing Powder
  • Spellbinders Square Dies
  • Sookwang Tape
  • Greenhouse Society Anemones Stamp Set

To make the card, we covered a 4.25 x 5.5 piece of white card stock with the double sided tape.  After peeling off the release sheet, lace was added on top and carefully pressed down onto the tape.  The glitter was added and burnished in.  The lace removed and the other glitter added and burnished in. We then cut an opening from the glittered card stock, and added the glittered card stock to the front of a top fold card base.  The sentiment was stamped inside the opening with Versamark and the  Embossing powder added and heat set to complete the card.

MFT Quilt Square Cover-up with Glitter

I really like the MFT Quilt Square Cover-up die, and I really like glitter.  So I had to use both for this card.

I used the following to make the card:
  • MFT Quilt Square Cover-up die
  • Glitter Ritz Micro-fine Glitter in Pink, Lilac, Silver, Merlot
  • Sookwang Tape
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed Silver Embossing Powder
  • CTMH Joyful Birthday Occasions

To make the card, I added the Sookwang tape to white card card stock.  I wanted to cut the Quilt Square just so the tape cut, but not all the way through the card stock.  It took a few trials with my Cuttlebug to get the layers right for this, but for me it was the A plate, C Plate, card stock with the Sookwang tape (Tape side up), B plate.  What worked out great, for me, was that the edges cut all the way through, so there was no trimming.

I then carefully pulled off the section where I wanted to add the first color of glitter.

Glitter was added, the excess brushed off, and then burnished into the tape.

I repeated the process for the remaining colors.

And here is the completed Quilt Square:

I then mounted the Quilt Square to the front of the card base.  The sentiment is from CTMH Joyful Birthday Occasions.  This was stamped with Versmark, the embossing powder added and heat set to complete the card.

Gold Star for you

Here is a Gold Star card - its 4.25 x 5.5.

I used:

  • Glitter Ritz Champagne Glitter
  • Sookwang tape
  • Cricut Artbooking Cartridge

To make the card, I first attached the Sookwang tape to white card stock.  I then used that in my Cricut, and cut various size stars from the Artbooking cartridge.  I then exposed the sticky part of the tape and added the Glitter Ritz glitter, and burnished it.  The stars were randomly added to the card front.  I added pop dots to the largest star before attaching it to the card.

For this card I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel Off Stickers, Glitter Ritz Micro Fine Glitter, Copic Markers, and a Cherry Lynn Doily Die.

Christmas Cards 2013 Cards #6 and #7

Had an unexpected day off work, so I decided to make a few more cards.  Both of the cards are 4 x 5.5.  For the first card, I used the Elizabeth Craft Designs Mitten Dies.  I covered a piece of white cardstock with Sookwang double sided tape, then cut the Mittens twice.  For the mittens I used Peacock Blue Glitter Ritz For the cuffs, snowflakes and bow, I used Warm Highlights.

For the second card, I used the mittens from the  Stampin' Up Make a Mitten stamp set.  These were stamped using Memento Danube Blue, and then cut out ( I don't have the punch).  The background of the card was embossed with the Snowflake Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Glitter Ritz and Stamping

Here is a card that I made with a Stampendous Stamp (one of my favorites), and Glitter Ritz.  The idea for this card came from a YouTube video by Scrapbooking Made Simple.

For this card I stamped the image twice.  On the base layer, I lightly sponged on Memento Rich Cocoa to give the card an aged looked.  From the second image, I cut out the center portion, and used Memento ink, and Copic markers to add a bit of color.  Then, Sookwang double sided tape was added to the image, and Cool Highlights Glitter Ritz was added.  The image was added to the base, with foam, to add a bit of dimension.
