Valentines Day Cards

I made my husband two cards this year.  I couldn't decide which I liked better, so he ended up with two.  Here are the cards (both are 4.25 x 5.5):

Card 1

Card 2:

For the first card, I used the following:
  • Artfully Sent, Storybook and Wild Card  Cricut Cartridges
  • Sookwang double sided tape
  • Glitter Ritz Warm Highlights and Regal Red

To make this card:
  1. From Artfully sent cut the card, fold along the score lines
  2. Cut a piece of white card stock slightly smaller than the card front.  Add the Sookwang tape.  Then add the Regal Red Glitter.  Burnish to bring out the shine in the glitter. Add to the back of the front part of the card.
  3. Add Sookwang tape to another piece of White card stock.  Cut the marque from Storybook, and the Sentiment from Wild Card.  Make sure the tape side of the card stock is face up.
  4. Expose the tape on the Marque cut. Carefully remove the release paper from the sentiment  - add the release paper to the Marque cut.  Make sure its where you want it, and carefully press it in place.
  5. Add the Warm Highlights Glitter to the Marque cut.  Carefully burnish it in.  Remove the Sentiment and add the Regal Red Glitter and burnish in.  Attach to the card front to finish the card.

For the second card, I used the following:
  • Kuratake Watercolors
  • Fuse tool
  • Various Sequins
  • Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts & Stars Glitter
  • Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares
  • Heart die cuts

To make the card:
  1.  Create the watercolor background using various colors of red Kuratate watercolors.  Dry completely. I used a piece of watercolor paper slightly smaller than 4.25 x 5.5
  2.  On a piece of red card stock cut a square using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares
  3.  Using the fuse tool, create a shaker pocket slightly larger than the cut square, and add sequins and glitter hearts.  I also added some heart die cuts with phrases hand written on them.  Fuse the last side of the pocket.
  4.  Add the shaker to the red card stock, then add both to the water color background.
  5. The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

Raking Day - MFT Thankful Friend

Once I saw the Thankful Friend stamp set from MFT I knew immediately who I wanted to make a card for.  My dad!

My dad "invented" a holiday for the grandkids - called Raking Day.  This holiday falls every year, when most of the leaves are off the trees.  All of the grandkids would help rake the leaves into big piles, and then jump into them.  Unfortunately, all of the grandkids are older now, and Raking Day is history.  So, to keep the memory of the holiday, I made this card.  The card is a shaker card and is 4.25x5.5.

For this card, I used many different products!
  • My Favorite Things - Thankful Friend stamps and dies
  • Spellbinders - Square Dies
  • Copic Markers - BG13, BG15, BG18, BG11, R24, C3, C1, C5, 91, B95, B97, B99, YG61, YG63, YG97, YR12, YR14, E50, E53, E31, E33, E35, E37, E42, E13
  • Memento - Tuxedo Black, Cottage Ivy, Rich Cocoa
  • Distress Ink - Weathered Wood, Stormy Skies
  • Stampin' Up - Lovely as a Tree Stamp set
  • Various Sequins
  • Recollections Glitter Shapes
  • Craft Foam
To make the card:
I partially die cut using the largest square in the Spellbinders set.  I cut the top and two sides.  I then partially cut with  the Thankful Friends die, after carefully lining up where she would be within the window.  The bottom area was cut using an Xacto blade and ruler.  I then stamped the girl with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  She was then colored with various Copic Markers.  The grass was also added with Copic Markers.

The leaves were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa Ink.  These were then colored with Copic Markers and die cut.

The trees in the background were from Stampin' Up Lovely as a Tree and stamped with Memento Rick Cocoa and Cottage Ivy.  The grass area was colored with Copics using the same colors as the front of the card,  The sky was done by sponging Stormy Skies and Weathered Wood.  This was also done on the frame area of the front of the card.

Craft Foam was cut to 4.25 x 5.5 and using the same size Spellbinders die, the square area cut so that it lined up with the front of the card.  I added acetate to the front part of the card, and then added the Craft Foam, making sure that it was well adhered.  The window area was filled with sequins in fall colors, and glitter.  The backing was added, and the entire thing added to the card base.

My first Shaker Card

I've recently seen many shaker cards and decided to make one.  The card is 5.5 x 4.25.

I used the following to make the card:
  • Mama Elephant Make a Wish stamp set
  • Stampendous Detailed Silver and Gold embossing power
  • Spellbinders circle die
  • Various colored sequins
  • Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts and Stars glitter
To make the card:
  1. For the front of the card, cut a piece of patterned paper to 5.5 x 4.25.
  2. Using the Spellbinders circle dies, select a die that is large enough for the stamp.  Decide where to cut the circle on the pattern paper, and cut the circle.
  3. Stamp the sentiment on the card front (I used the pattern paper as a template as to where to stamp)
  4. Back the circle with acetate.
  5. From the Make a Wish stamp set, randomly stamp stars with Versamark, and emboss with gold and silver.
  6. Using foam tape, tape around the circle, making sure that there are no gaps (or the sequins and glitter will fall out!)
  7. I added the sequins and glitter to the card front, making sure that they were clustered around the sentiment
  8. Line up the patterned patter to the front of card and attach it firmly.
  9. Since it seemed that there was more needed to the front of the card, I added some additional sequins.
