Christmas In July - part 2

I loved a card that was made by Mindy Eggen (see her card here), and knew I needed to make it myself.  My version is similar:

For the card, I used:

  • Gina K - Red Velvet Ink
  • Gina K - Deck the Halls Stamp set
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 1
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous - Detail Gold Embossing Powder
  • Gansai Tambi - #902 Red Gold
  • Gold Metallic Paper
To make the card, Christmas Balls were stamped using Red Velvet.  Once the ink was dry, The decorations, caps, strings and sentiment were stamped using Versamark.  Embossing powder was added and het set.  Watercolor splatters were added using Red Gold watercolor. The image and gold mat were cut using the Master Layout dies.  The image was attached to the gold mat, and then added to the card base to complete the card.

Christmas in July (Gina K)

OK, so I got on the Christmas in July bandwagon this year, partly because I got this wonderful stamp set last year, but too late to use for Christmas cards.  Its from Gina K Designs and is called Sparkle and Shine.

Here are three of the cards I made using it:

To make the cards I used:
  • Versamark
  • Gina K - Sparkle and Shine
  • Stampendous - Detail Gold Embossing Power (Red and Green cards)
  • Stampendous - Detail White Embossing Powder (Blue card)
  • Gansai Tambi - #903 Yellow Gold (Red and Green cards)
  • Gansai Tambi - #906 White Gold (Blue card)
  • Gina K - Red Velvet, Edible Eggplant (Red Card), Grass Green, Christmas Pine (Green Card)
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 1
  • Gold and Silver metallic paper
To make the cards, I stamped the main image in Versamark, added embossing powder and heat set.  The sentiments were stamped in Versamark, embossing powder added and heat set. For the Red and Green cards, darker color was brushed around the image, and then an even darker color was added at the edges. Watercolor splatters were then added.  These panels, and associated mats were cut with Master Layouts 1 dies.  The panels were attached to the mats and then to the card base to complete the cards.

Get Well Soon!

I love lighthouses - and collect lighthouse stamps.  I figured it was about time to begin using them.  Here is a get well card made using one of my many lighthouse stamps!

I used the following for the card:

  • Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares Dies
  • Memento London Fog Ink
  • Faber Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils
  • Tim Holtz Crazy Talk Stamp Set
  • Versmark
  • Stampendous Detailed White Embossing Powder
To make the card, I stamped the image with the London Fog ink, and colored with the colored pencils.  I then cut the image with a Stitched Square dies, and added to a card base.  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark, embossing powder added and heat set to complete the card.

More quick Christmas Cards

I wish I had more time to make Christmas Cards!  Instead, this year, I need quick cards.  Here are some more cards I made:

For the red card I used:

  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
  • Technique Junkies Peace On Earth Dove

For the Green Card:

  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
  • Tim Holtz Holiday Knits
  • Green Glitter Embossing Powder
  • Gina K Simple Snowflakes (for sentiment)

For both cards, I stamped the background with Versmark, added the Embossing Powder and heat set it.  Both were cut to 4 x 5.25 and added to a card base.  For the green card, the sentiment was stamped with Versamark, heat set and added to the card with pop dots.

I used the following for the card:

  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed White Embossing Powder

A Blue Bird Birhtday Card

Now that I have a better way to get vibrant colors on dark card stock with Prismacolor Pencils, I had make another card.

I used the following to make this card:

  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Robin 1 Floral Wreath
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs - Flower Mosaic Embossing Folder
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous - Detailed Gold Embossing Power
  • Prismacolor Pencils
  • Close to My Heart - Celebration Stamp Set
  • Hero Arts Infinity Circle Dies
To make the card, I stamped the Robin image with Versamark, added gold embossing powder and heat set.  I then used the White Prismacolor pencil to color most of the image.  The image was then colored with a variety of Prismacolor pencils on top on the white.  The image was then cut with one of the circle dies.  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark, gold embossing powder added and heat set.  For the background, I embossed a piece of blue card stock with the Flower Mosaic Embossing Folder.  The bird image and sentiment was then added.  For the card base, I rubbed Versafine along the edges, added gold embossing powder and heat set.  The panel was then added to the card base to complete the card.

Stampendous Cottage Rose

Stampendous Cottage Rose is a go-to stamp for me.  I use it when I want to try new techniques, or practice old ones.  One of the looks that I love, it colored pencil on dark card stock, but I have never been happy with the results.  Then along came a video from Gina K (see it here), and I had to try it again.  The trick for me, is to use white pencil first.

I used the following for the card:

  • Stampendous - Cottage Rose Stamp
  • Stampendous - Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
  • Versamark
  • Prismacolor Pencils
  • Close to My Heart - Joyful Birthday Occasions
TO make the card, I stamped the image with Versamark, added the gold embossing powder and heat set it.  Then I used the white Prismacolor pencil, and colored most of the image with it.  On top of the white, I then added the other colors.  This really seemed to make the image pop.  The sentiment was added by stamping with Versamark, adding the gold embossing powder and heat setting it.  For the card base, I added Versamark to the edges, added the gold embossing powder and heat set.  The image panel was then added to complete the card.

Stampendous Train Post Card

A while back, I got the Stampendous Train Post Card stamp, and finally had a chance to use it!  Here is the card I made with it.  While its a Christmas themed card, I didn't color it that way - looks more like summer!

I used the following to make the card:

  • Stampendous - Train Post Card stamp
  • Various Copic Markers
  • Distress Ink - Tea Dye

This was a simple card to make.  The image was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, then colored with Copic markers.  I used the Distress Ink on the edges to give the image a bit of an aged look.  The image was then trimmed and added to a card base to complete the card.

Autumn Card using Gilding Flakes

I recently saw this post from Jennifer McGuire and realized it was something that I could do, and even had gilding flakes!  In my case, the gilding flakes were more of an Autumn color, so I knew I had to do a card for the fall.

Here is my card:

I used the following to make the card:

  • Sookwang 1/4" double sided tape
  • La D'ore Scarlet Ice Flakes FSC 1 127
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Rose Gold Embossing Powder
  • Autumn Stamp set (Its been in my stash a while, and I don't know the manufacturer)
To make the card, I laid the tape on a diagonal, evenly across a piece of black card stock.  I then exposed the sticky part of the tape and added the gilding flakes.  This was then cut at an angle, and I figured out where I wanted the greeting.  Once I had that, I stamped the greeting in Versamark, and added the embossing powder and heat set.  The gilded portion was then added to the card front, using craft foam behind the pieces.  The leaves were stamped with  Versamark, embossing powder added and heat set.  They were then fussy cut and added to the front of the card to complete the card.

Art Impressions Watercolor Birdhouses

Here is a card I made with Art Impressions Watercolor stamps.  I love these stamps, and the process to make watercolor images!

I used the following to make the card:

  • Art Impressions Flower Set #4052, Foliage Set #4051, WC Series Set 2 #3545
  • Distress Markers Abandoned Coral, Wilted Violet, Pine Needles, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn
  • Molotow Masking Fluid
  • Close to my Heart Just to say Stamp Set
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed White Embossing Powder
  • Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles
  • My Favorite Things Watercolor Wash Paper
To make the card, I first created the fence using the Molotow Masking Fluid pen.  Once it was dry, I stamped the images by coloring the stamps with the distress pens, and adding water to the images to give a water colored image.  The masking fluid was then removed, and detail was added.  The image was then cut with one of the stitched rectangle dies.  This was then added to a piece of Watercolor wash paper.  I made the card base by cutting out a larger rectangle with a stitched rectangle from the center of the card front.  The sentiment was stamped with Versamark, detailed white embossing powder added and heat set.  The image was then added to complete the card.

Christmas with Dreamweaver Christmas Borders Stencil

I'm behind on making Christmas cards.  So I got out the Dreamweavers Christmas Border stencil and made this card:

I used the following to make the card:

  • Dreamweaver Christmas Border Stencil
  • Range Dye Ink - Classic Cherry, Lily Pad
  • Memento - Brilliance Platinum Planet, Dandelion, Danube Blue
  • Ranger Texture Paste
  • Lwan Fawn Winter Scripty Sayings
  • Stampendous Rose Gold Embossing Powder
  • Versmark
To make the card, I secured the stencil to white card stock.  I then applied the texture paste, removed and cleaned the stencil.  Once the texture paste was dry, I carefully replaced the stencil.  I then added the ink to the different elements of the borders.  To give a bit of shimmer, I lightly applied the Platinum Planet ink over the entire area.  To create the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment with Versmark on vellum.  I then applied the embossing powder and heat set.  This was then cut to size and attached to the card.  The entire piece was then added to the card front to complete the card.

Need Last Minute Christmas Cards? (Stampendous Delicate Snowflake)

Well, this year I needed a few more Christmas Cards.  I didn't have enough time to make any detailed cards, but then I remembered I had the Delicate Snowflake stamps from Stampendous.  The largest stamp fits perfect on a 4 x 5.5 card.  I was able to make several of these cards in about an hour.  Here is the card:

To make this card I used:

  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detailed While Embossing Powder
  • Stampendous Delicate Snowflakes
  • Lawn Fawn Winter Scripty Sayings
This was one of the easiest cards to make! I trimmed a piece of dark blue card stock slightly smaller than the card base.  I then stamped the largest of the Delicate Snowflake stamps with Versamark.  The embossing powder was added and heat set.  I then stamped the sentiment with Versamark, added the embossing powder and heat set.  The image was then added to the white card base.

My first Shaker Card

I've recently seen many shaker cards and decided to make one.  The card is 5.5 x 4.25.

I used the following to make the card:
  • Mama Elephant Make a Wish stamp set
  • Stampendous Detailed Silver and Gold embossing power
  • Spellbinders circle die
  • Various colored sequins
  • Martha Stewart Iridescent Hearts and Stars glitter
To make the card:
  1. For the front of the card, cut a piece of patterned paper to 5.5 x 4.25.
  2. Using the Spellbinders circle dies, select a die that is large enough for the stamp.  Decide where to cut the circle on the pattern paper, and cut the circle.
  3. Stamp the sentiment on the card front (I used the pattern paper as a template as to where to stamp)
  4. Back the circle with acetate.
  5. From the Make a Wish stamp set, randomly stamp stars with Versamark, and emboss with gold and silver.
  6. Using foam tape, tape around the circle, making sure that there are no gaps (or the sequins and glitter will fall out!)
  7. I added the sequins and glitter to the card front, making sure that they were clustered around the sentiment
  8. Line up the patterned patter to the front of card and attach it firmly.
  9. Since it seemed that there was more needed to the front of the card, I added some additional sequins.

Christmas Cards 2014 - Card 3

For this card, I used the Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia Die and Embossing folder.

For this card, I used:

  • Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia Die and Embossing Folder
  • Burlap
  • Stampendous Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
  • Versamark
  • Spellbinders Oval Die
  • Gina K Simple Snowflakes Stamp set
To make the card, I cut the Poinsettia with red, green and gold card stock.  I then embossed the leaves with the coordinating embossing folder, and attached all of the layers.  I cut a small oval with a Spellbinders die, and then stamped with Versamark using a sentiment from the Gina K Designs Simple Snowflake stamp set.  I added the detailed Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.  To finish the card, I added a strip of burlap to the card base, and then attached the poinsettia and sentiment.

Christmas Cards 2014 - Card 1

Here is the first of the Christmas Cards I made this year. I made several of these cards, using different colored card stock, embossing powders, and Pan Pastels.

For these cards I used:

  • Stampendous Detailed White Embossing Powder
  • Stampendous Detailed Gold Embossing Powder
  • Pan Pastels 930.5 Bronze
  • Pan Pastels 920.5 Silver
  • Stampendous Delicate Snowflakes
  • Stampendous Delicate Snowflakes dies
  • Versamark
  • Gina K Designs Let it Snow stamp set
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Stand Up Helper Set 2
  • Silver Glitter Lines 7020
  • Recollections background stamp

To make these cards, I stamped the largest snowflake from the Detailed Snowflakes stamp set and the sentiment with Versamark.  I added Detailed Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.

Like the previous cards, I stamped the snowflake and sentiment with Versamark.  I then used Bronze Pan Pastels and covered the card.  Pan Pastels sticks to Versamark more than to the card base (there is a shimmer to the background that can't be seen in the photo.  I then sealed the Pan Pastels.  There is a slight difference between the card using Pan Pastels and Embossing Powder.

The Pan Pastels card has a much flatter appearance.  Here is a sample of both side by side with the Embossing Powder on the left and the Pan Pastels on the Right).

For the next version of the card, I stamped the snowflake and sentiment with Versamark, the added Detailed White embossing powder and heat set.   I used the Stand Up Helper Snowflake and the Silver Glitter lines to complete this card.

For the last version of the card, I stamped only the snowflake with Versamark, added detailed white embossing powder and heat set.  I then cut out the snowflake with the coordinating die.  For the background, I stamped the Recollections stamp with Versamark on white card stock.  I then covered the card stock with Silver Pan Pastels.  The Pan Pastels "sticks" to the Versamark and leaves a slight shimmer to the rest of the card stock.  The white embossed snowflake was added to finish the card.

Pan Pastels

Here is my first card made with Pan Pastels.  This card is 5 x 5.75.

For this card I used:
  • Dreamweaver Stencil LX 7021 Corner Flowers
  • Pan Pastels 280.5 Orange, 250.5 Diarylide Yellow, 470.5 Violet, 340.5 Permanent Red, 340.8 Permanent Red Tint, 430.5 Magenta, 380.5 Red Iron Oxide
  • Stampendous Hydrangea Garden Stamp Set
  • Memento Rich Cocoa
  • Stampendous Detailed Silver Embossing Powder
  • Versamark
To make the card, I placed the stencil on white card stock.  I used the pan pastels to color the flowers in the stencil.  I then stamped the butterfly from the Hydrangea Garden stamp set in Rich Cocoa.  The butterfly body was colored with Rich Cocoa, and the wings with the Orange Pan Pastels.  Once complete, I sealed the images, and cut the images to 4 x 5.75.

To assemble the card, I covered the edge of a scrap piece of white card stock with Versamark (to about 1 inch), and then heat embossed with Detailed Silver embossing power.   1/4" strips were then cut from the embossed edge.  The images were mounted to the center of the card base.  The strips were added to the long edges of the image.

Stampendous Hydrangea Garden

Here is a card map using Hydrangea Garden Stamp set and dies.  This card is 5 x 6.5.

For the card, I used:
  • Stampendous Hydrangea Garden Stamp set and coordinating dies
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
  • Wink of Stella Clear
  • Glossy Accents
  • Copic Markers E33, G21, G24, G46, BV000, BV00, BV11, BV13, Y06, Y13, Y15, Y17, B24, YR31
To make the card, I stamped all of the elements from the stamp set on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I then colored the flowers with BV000, BV00, BV11, and BV13.  For the center of the flowers I used YR31.  I then added Wink of Stella to the centers, and finally covered the centers with Glossy Accents.  The leaves were colored with G21, G24, and G46 (my favorite combo for leaves).  For the butterfly, I used E33 for the body, B24 for the eye, and Y06, Y13, Y15, and Y17 for the wings.  I covered the wings with Wink of Stella for a glittery look.

I then cut all of the elements out using the coordinating dies.
I put the card together with pop dots to add additional dimension to the finished card.

Altenew Henna Elements Card

When I saw the Altenew Henna Elements stamp set I knew I had to have it.  I love the flowers in this set!

Here is the card that I made:

For the card, I used:
  • Altenew Henna Elements
  • Stampendous Detailed White Embossing Power
  • Versamark
  • Copic Markers YR14, YG25, T2, R24, YR07, Y17, G09, V04
To make the card, I stamped the various flowers and leaves with Versamark, and then embossed with the Detailed White Embossing power.  Since the card base is a kraft paper, I chose to use the brightest Copics I had in my collection to color the flowers (although I did need to tone down the G09 with T2).  I did color over the embossing to add additional color to the card.

Beach scene card

This Stampendous stamp has always reminded me of various Caribbean beaches we have been to.

This card is 4 x 5.5 and made with the following:
  • Stampendous Stamp Beachfront Boat N234
  • Copic Markers, G21, G24, G46, B00, B14, B16, E27, E31
  • Tim Holtz Distressed Embossing Powder Brushed Corduroy
  • Versamark Pen
  • Memento Ink Tuxedo Black
To make the card, I stamped the beach scene on white card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black, and then colored it with Copic Markers.  For the sandy beach, I used the Versamark pen to color over the sand area, and then added the embossing powder.I matted the final image and attached it to the card base.  The sentiment was then added to complete the card.
