Distress Oxide Background

Here is a birthday card I made using a distress oxide background.  It didn't come out quite as I expected it, but still worked.

I used the following to make the card:

  • Distress Oxide Ink - Seedless Preserves, Abandoned Coral, Tattered Rose
  • Penny Black Blooming Garden Stamp set
  • Honey Bee Sentiment Banners Dies
  • Altenew Beautiful Inside Stamp Set
  • Versamark
  • Stampendous Detail White Embossing Powder
  • Ranger Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl
I first made the background with the Distress Oxide inks.  This was then sprayed with water which was mixed with Perfect Pearl.  The image was stamped, and I then "colored" the stamp with the pearlized water.  This was then added to the card base.  The sentiment strip was created by stamping the sentiment with Versamark, adding the embossing powder and heat setting it.  It was then cut with one of the banner dies and added to the card, completing the card.

Using an alcohol ink background for a birhday card

I've made several alcohol ink backgrounds, and I haven't liked all of them.  Of course I couldn't throw them out, and recently I've been trying to use these backgrounds somehow in my cards.  I've found that die cutting the background is one way that I can use the backgrounds that I don't like.  I did that for this card:

I wished I had taken a picture of the background I wasn't happy with, before I cut the candles from it!

I used the following for this card:

  • An alcohol ink background that I didn't like
  • Elizabeth Craft Designs Candles Dies
  • MFT Delicious Birthday Stamp Set
  • Versafine
  • Stampendous Detail Gold Embossing Powder
  • Gold Paper
To make the card, I cut the detail portion of candles from the alcohol ink background.  The backs for the candles were cut from gold paper.  These were then added to a white card base.  The sentiment was stamped using versamark, gold embossing powder added and heat set.  The panel was then matted with gold paper (same paper as the backs of the candles).  This was then added to the card base to complete the card.

More cards using the Wreath Builder

I've been busy making cards using the Wreath Builder from Gina K.  For these I use the Autumn Wreath Builder stamps, and the butterfly from the Circle of Friendship set.

To make these cards, I used:

  • Gina K Autumn Wreath Builder Stamp Set
  • Gina K Wreath Builder Template
  • Gina K/Unity Circle of Friendship Stamp Set
  • Various colors of Gina K ink
  • Small Double Stitch Circle and Oval Dies
  • Large Single Stitch Circle and Oval Dies
  • Hero Hues Unicorn Pigment Ink
Both of these cards used the 3 2/4 inch template.  I like that its easy to modify the stamped image to fit a 5.5 x 4.25 inch card as I did with the birthday card.

An alcohol ink background used!

I finally decided that I needed to use the alcohol ink backgrounds I have been making.  I recently saw a similar design to this on Pinterest which took me to the My Impressions Blog. I decided to do something similar, and here is the card I made:

To make this card, I used the following:

Simon Says Stamp Balloon Dies
Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies
Simon Says Stamp Birthday Celebration Stamp Set
Alcohol Ink
Yupo Paper

Using an Alcohol Ink background I had previously made, I cut several balloons using the Balloon dies.  These were then added to white card stock an cut using a Stitched Rectangle die.  The sentiment was then added, and the panel added to a card base to complete the card.
