Rainbow Birthday Card

I've been using my Gansi Tambi watercolors a bit more these days.  I created a rainbow with some of the colors in my set, comparing how the colors look using different amounts of water.  Of course I had to make cards with my results!  And here they are:

I used the following for the cards:

  • Gansi Tambi Watercolors (I used  a red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple from the set)
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 1 and 2 die sets
  • Simon Says Stamp - Happy die
  • Altenew - Birthday Greetings stamp set
  • Gina K - Black Onyx Ink
To make the cards, I watercolored the stripes using the rainbow colors from the watercolors.  I first used just a minimum amount of water, and then repeated it using a very watered down watercolor.  These were both then cut using one of the Master Layouts 2 dies.  The mat was cut from dark blue paper using one of the Mater Layouts 1 dies.  The watercolor panel was attached to the mat. The 'happy' was cut using the same blue and the 'happy' background from white.  These were added to the watercolor panel.  'birthday' was stamped below the word happy.  The entire panel was then added to the card base complete the card.

MFT and Sandy Allnock Create In Color

I noticed that Sandy Allnock was doing a "Create In Color" using watercolor pencils and a very cute image from MFT.  Since I have watercolor pencils that I used once (with disastrous) results, I decided to give this a try.  The image used was a free download from MFT.  Here is the card I ended up making with the end result:

For the card I used:

  • MFT - free download
  • Prismacolor Watercolor pencils - I used similar colors to those used in the tutorial
  • Cryogen Curious Metallic White
  • Uniball Signo White Pen
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 1
To make the card, I followed the tutorial to color the image.  The image was cut using one of the dies from Master Layouts 1.  The mat was cut using the associated die.  The two pieces were attached and added to the card base.

Note:  I used Cryogen paper since the watercolor pencils I have worked better on this paper.  On Neenah Solar White, they didn't melt and blend well at all.

Mothers Day Card (Gina K - Again!)

I think that Gina K products are perfect to make Mothers Day cards!  Here is the card I made for my Mother this year:

For the card I used:

  • Gina K - Dusty Rose, Black Onyx, Lucky Clover, Wild Dandelion Inks
  • Gina K - Petite Flourish background stamp
  • Gina K - Watercolor Flowers stamps and dies
  • Gina K - Master Layouts 1, 2 and 3
  • CTMH - Just to Say stamp set
To make the card, I stamped the background with Lucky Clover.  This was then cut with one of the Master Layouts 2 dies.  The black mat was cut with the associated die from the same set.  The two pieces were attached together. The white oval was cut using one of the Master Layout 1 dies.  The scalloped mat was cut from the associated die from the same set.  These were then attached together and added to the background. I then stamped and die cut the flower and stems.  These were arranged and attached on the white oval.  The sentiment was stamped and cut using one of the flag dies from Master Layouts 3.  The sentiment was attached using foam tape.  The entire panel as added to the card base to complete the card.

Another Acrylic Block Background (Gina K)

I enjoyed making backgrounds with an acrylic block and markers, so I decided to make another.  I was hoping to get two images again, but there wasn't enough ink remaining on the block for a second image. I think that this one is my favorite so far!

I used the following for the card:
  • Tombow Markers
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Acrylic Block
  • Gina K Natural Silhouettes
  • Gina K Master Layouts 2
To make the card, I colored on the back of an acrylic block with Tombow Markers (for this one, I selected a purple, green and blue).  I spritzed the block with water and stamped it on the watercolor paper.  Once dry, the piece was cut with Master Layouts 2, as well as a mat from black paper.  This was then used as the background for the card.  I stamped the images and sentiment on the background. The background was added to the black mat, and the entire piece added to the card base to complete the card.

Acrylic Block Backgrounds (Gina K)

After watching a Stamp and Chat video from Gina K on using Acrylic Block backgrounds, I decided to make a few cards using that technique. I was able to get two impressions from one inked background. Here are the cards I made:

For both cards I used:

  • Tombow Markers (I chose a bright Pink, Blue and Green)
  • An acrylic block
  • Watercolor paper
  • Gina K Master Layouts 2

For the first card (first impression):

  • Gina K Natural Silhouettes
  • Altenew Birthday Greetings

For the second card (second impression):

  • Gina K Better Together
  • Close To My Heart Joyful Birthday Occasions

To make the cards, I colored on the back of an acrylic block with the Tombow markers, and then spritzed it with a bit of water.  I quickly stamped this on a piece of watercolor paper.  When I picked up the block, I noticed there was still ink on it, so I spritzed it again, and stamped it on another piece of watercolor paper.  Once both pieces were dry, I cut them with Master Layouts 2, as well as a mat from black paper.  These pieces were then used as the backgrounds for the cards.  I stamped the images on the backgrounds as well as the sentiments.  The background was added to the black mat, and the entire piece added to the card base to complete the cards.
